The Time/Space meat vehicle is left behind. What new landscapes is RAW privy to right now?

And what of us left behind, mourning? The world has become a poorer place. Maybe we should turn anguish and sorrow into joy and celebration that he is now free of discomfort and has travelled into a new mistery.

To all those who knew him, my deepest sympathy and the certainty that he has made a difference to millions worldwide, thanks to his wonderful, wonderful writing.

Hail Eris!

Just a few days ago, I finally got around to penning and sending a letter to Wilson, saying all of the things that I'd meant to say all these years, namely, thanking him for all of the wonderful and weird things to think about during my formative years. It was returned in the mail, unopened, not long ago; got a bad feeling off that, I did.

The world is saddened and somewhat darkened by his passing; it is heartened and illuminated (heh) by the loss of his shell while the true RAW goes on Somewhere, Somewhen.

His W/work will go on.

All hail Discordia!

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

Reading your writing helped to give my brain a vocabulary with which I could more easily make contact with this world we all got trapped in.

Hopefully what you are now experiencing is outrageously out of this world.

In answer to the question of "why are we leaving a message for a dead guy?". We leave a message in RAW's memory, because it lives on. We leave messages for his family, who are grieving and managing this blog. We leave messages for each other, who grieve someone who influenced our lives, and was truly a legend in his own time. How's that for an answer?

Thrill with the lissome lust of the light,
O man! My man!
Come careering out of the night
Of Pan! Io Pan!
Io Pan! Io Pan! Come over the sea
From Sicily and from Arcady!
Roaming as Bacchus, with fauns and pards
And nymphs and satyrs for thy guards,
On a milk-white ass, come over the sea
To me, to me,
Come with Apollo in bridal dress
(Shepherdess and pythoness)
Come with Artemis, silken shod,
And wash thy white thigh, beautifal God,
In the moon of the woods, on the marble mount,
The dimpled dawn of the amber fount!
Dip the purple of passionate prayer
In the crimson shrine, the scarlet snare,
The soul that startles in eyes of blue
To watch thy wantonness weeping through
The tangled grove, the gnarled bole
Of the living tree that is spirit and soul
And body and brain - come over the sea,
(Io Pan! Io Pan!)
Devil or God, to me, to me,
My man! My man!
Come with trumpets sounding shrill
Over the hill!
Come with drums low muttering
From the spring!
Come with flute and come with pipe!
Am I not ripe?
I, who wait and writhe and wrestle
With air that hath no boughs to nestle
My body, weary of empty clasp,
Strong as a lion and sharp as an asp -
Come, O come!
I am numb
With the lonely lust of devildom.
Thrust the sword through the galling fetter,
All-devourer, all begetter;
Give me the sign of the Open Eye,
And the token erect of thorny thigh,
And the word of madness and mystery,
O Pan! Io Pan!
Io Pan! Io Pan Pan! Pan Pan! Pan,
I am a man:
Do as thou wilt, as a great god can,
O Pan! Io Pan!
Io Pan! Io Pan Pan! I am awake
In the grip of the snake.
The eagle slashes with beak and claw;
The Gods withdraw;
The great beasts come, Io Pan! I am borne
To death on the horn
Of the Unicorn.
I am Pan! Io Pan! Io Pan Pan! Pan!
I am thy mate, I am thy man,
Goat of thy flock, I am gold, I am god,
Flesh to thy bone, flower to thy rod.
With hoofs of steel I race on the rocks
Through solstice stubborn to equinox.
I rave; and I rape and I rip and I rend
Everlasting, world without end,
Mannikin, maiden, maenad, man,
In the might of Pan.
Io Pan! Io Pan Pan! Pan! Io Pan!

It should be noted that RAW was not a liberal in modern sense, but an anti-statist libertarian (tho' not of the right-wing sort, true), and often critical of leftists (certainly marxists), and even of environmentalists--including vegetarians and health nazis (anti-tobacco or anti-alcohol). He was pro-NRA, wasn't he, and not a vegetarian, nor hardly a PC sort of thinker; RAW also had some not-so-pleasant words for feminists. Of course, he was no hard-core Heinleinian or Appliantologist, and yeah he didn't care for BushCo.

RAW was well read in quantum physics and Einstein, apparently (tho' perhaps a bit too willing to support fringe mysticism), and the Wizard also respected Nietzsche, Freud and Reich, semanticists, and he had read Ezra Pound and Joyce with appreciation--neither of whom were exactly liberal; and yet RAW still had a Jeffersonian aspect, along with the weirdness--and in ways the Jeffersonian aspects of his writing seem more sound than the occult or mystical. RAW was also of course not a bad satirist and comedian and yeah, pagan to his heart--not afraid to be blasphemous on occasion. Censor or wannabe Goebbels--or Cheka member (i.e. many democrats)-- he was not.

I don't enjoy all of his writings (there are some us who are not so down with the Crowley school of applied blasphemy), yet I doubt he was supportive of the little crypto-marxist rodents or teamsters commonly found scurrying about DU or Kos.

The world shall sing of Mary Jane
The newscasts all go daft
The goat-god's dance will dance them down
By the power of our Craft

The spell is cast. The sign appears
Of pyramid-and-eye
Old Adam's fall becomes our spring
And death itself shall die

A new star rises in the south
Prometheus is born
Fire leaps from earth to sky
On resurrection morn

All flesh shall see it in a flash
In the twinkling of an eye
A cone of power in the stars
And death itself shall die

Hail Eris!

Bob, I was literally speaking about you with a friend, around the time you passed from the Earthly plane. We were talking about the Golden Apple of Discord, and your name came up, no surprise.

I had just posted an article about contacting the HGA, when I saw a friend's post about your physical death, and of course, was shocked/unshocked to find the time of 11:11 on my clock.

I was honored to have met you and your lovely wife when I visited Laura Jennings years ago. You were a delightful, funny and engaging man. I especially loved the night you "spilled" the IXth Degree secret of the OTO at a magickal get-together years ago.

I remember being turned onto your "Iluminati Trilogy" by Victor Koman, and his band of Libertarians/Discordians. Ah, the good old days. I didn't know you as well as I would have liked, but of course, I have your books to re-read all over again. You will certainly be missed my old friend. I know you achieved your True Will while you were here, and I look forward to having you jump into my psychic sphere and continue to share your ageless wisdom with such a Fool as I.

Many blessings Bob, you are loved.

Have a good trip, Bob. You are one hell of a great teacher. Thanks for helping me de- and re-program the ol' biocomputer of mine, it damn sure needed some rewiring by the time I discovered "Prometheus Rising". Sharing your humor, insight, and wisdom with us were beautiful, much-appreciated gifts. People like you are rare indeed, and they are just enough to keep my faith in this fucked-up bunch of mutated apes from completely evaporating. Weird mutants like you have helped weird mutants like me make just a little bit more sense of it all. Bob, it was really good to share the ride on Earth with you, if only for a little while. You made it a lot easier to bear. Take care, Bob, I'll see you on the other side.

I'll think of you as I'll be standing on the barricades of a squatted house later this spring...
As I'll be sitting with my friends on a little island with psychedelic indoles scooting around my neural pathways...
I'll come visit you in the universe next door some time...

2 Christmasses running I have bought & distributed "the Illuminatus Trilogy" to my 'discerning' friends..
Have a great journey & see you again one day.
and humility is endless.
Hail Eris

Bob made me laugh, made me cry, but above all he made me think.

I can imagine no greater compliment.

So long, Bob.

I'm profoundly saddened by this news. I'd always hoped that he'd hang on for longer. I just feel it fundamentally wrong of the human race not to have fulfilled his predictions of over two decades ago that life extension would by now have been implemented in such a way that he might never need to bugger off like this.

Illuminatus! was published in Britain when I was 14, and was the start of a so-far-lifelong fascination with Bob's writing and thinking. Yeah, I know it's boring, but I'm one more of that gibbering horde testifying that the man changed my life.

I feel privileged to have interviewed him in Ireland back in '86, ostensibly for my degree dissertation on Joyce but basically because I wanted to meet him! I shall reframe forthwith his pope-letter to me.

Open the soap duckets, Bob. Unify the forces. And keep reporting back, OK?

i happend to finish "Schroedingers Cat Trilogy" just the day you died. I had been reading in it unregularly for about half a year

perhaps there are fluctuations in the random void after all :-)

well, you're finally reunited with Arlen and Luna. . . knowing that limits the amount of grief I can feel about this.

I wish I'd been able to spend more time learning from you in this life. . . see you, Arlen, and Luna on the other side.

"Listen to my last words anywhere. Listen to my last words any world. Listen all you board syndicates and governments of the earth. And you powers behind what filth deals consummated in what lavatory to take what is not yours. To sell the ground from unborn feet forever --
'Don't let them see us. Don't tell them what we are doing --'
Are these the words of the all-powerful boards and syndicates of the earth?
'For God's sake don't let that Coca-Cola thing out --'
'Not The Cancer Deal with The Venusians --'
'Not The Grean Deal -- Don't show them that --'
'Not The Orgasm Death --'
'Not the ovens --'
Listen: I call you all. Show your cards all players. Pay it all pay it all pay it all back. Play it all pay it all play it all back. For all to see. In Times Square. In Picadilly.
'Premature. Premature. Give us a little more time.'
Time for what? More lies? Premature? Premature for who? I say to all these words are premature. These words may be to late. Minutes to go. Minutes to foe goal --
'Top Secret -- Classified -- For The Board -- The Elite -- The Initiates --'"

End transmission. 23. Eris. The spinning spiral chaos of the galactic core around the corner in your very own neighborhood.

Au revoir, Monsieur Wilson.

Fare Thee Well, Mr Wilson!

If Alan Watts' philosophy on Death is as close as anything else to the 'Truth', then, Hey! It's all gonna work out just fine!

What an incredible Legacy you've left us! May many more 'pygmies' discover your works and become GIANTS!

Goodbye, wherever you go. You taught me that live can seem stranger than fiction.
Among other things.
Thank you for this! You appeared to be a mind that was ahead of his time.

Or should rather be said that your fellows either unable or unwilling to catch up with you?

And I feel a bit lonely now.
Now it is on us to show what we have learned from you.

Robert Anton Wilson was 3 or 4 of the most interesting people I have ever met.

With Bob as my guide I drank the koolaid, saw the fnords, and nuzzled the tentacular maw of great Cthulhu.

Thanks for everything, Bob. Fare thee well.
