Various medical authorities swarm in and out of here predicting I have between two days and two months to live. I think they are guessing. I remain cheerful and unimpressed. I look forward without dogmatic optimism but without dread. I love you all and I deeply implore you to keep the lasagna flying.
Please pardon my levity, I don't see how to take death seriously. It seems absurd.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 400 of 685 Newer› Newest»Thank you, Mr. Wilson. I love you.
Dear Bob,
If I can make my way into the next realm with half the courage you seem to exhibit, I think I'll be in good shape.
I've recently met a wonderful woman who lives up the hill from me, who appreciates your work as much as I do.
Best wishes to you, and Goddess Bless.

Dear Prof. Wilson,
(If you were never made a professor, you should have been)
I read your Prometheus Rising in my late teens and am certain that it was instrumental in the formation of my personal development and the career path I chose. I am currently writing up a doctoral thesis in the history and philosophy of psychology at University College Dublin.
Your words continue to shape my thinking.
Thank you.
Tá suil agam go mbuailfidh tú leis taobh na firínne gan bpian.
Bob,
You've changed my life more than any single person I've never met. The gratitude I have for you for helping open my eyes to the "real" world is immeasurable.
May You Have Bats In Your Belfry Forevermore!
I watched the dvd of maybe logic last night... again
" What you really are is totally unknown and by definition infinite, because you can't experience it all at one time; and you can never know it all at one time. Every day you will find new aspects of yourself if you allow yourself to change and grow; and the best way to change and grow is to realize how little you know and pay more attention to what's going on around you"

I wish you well Bob. Your books are an inspiration and dam great entertainment.
We love you too, Bob!
Many years ago, a newfound friend suggested that I should read Cosmic Trigger. So, I acted on his suggestion and read the whole trilogy. I couldn't have asked for better timing either. It was a much needed and grounding experience to read that series. I continued from there to read many more of your books.
The B.S. appears to be too thick to move through, but with your help I manage to see well enough to keep moving forward(or is backward?). Thank you!
You've been a huge inspiration in everything I do. Your views and your writing have changed my life.
Thank you.
Kimberly
Your death is only a myth, you can never die. You have touched and influenced too many people with your books, articles, and speeches. You will live forever. You are imortal and not just because I love you.
Bob, you can't go yet. Who's gonna be the Guns And Dope Party candidate for President next year? This nation needs you to save it as never before!
All joking aside, I can only echo the hundreds of folks here who have already thanked you profusely for the profound effect your writings have had on their lives. Add me to that list.
Thanks for everything Bob, I will always love your books.
Hy mr Wilson..I love you too...and I'm glad you don't take seriously all this about death.
Thanks for writing all those crazy books :)

you're awesome.
thanks for all the great books. cosmic trigger changed the way i view the entire world, forever.
thank you so much for that
Dear sir, Mr Wilson,
for a number of people in Bulgaria your books were the stuff which shook the dust off reality and presented a world of endless wonder. Everything which is happening now is but a setback surely in your decision to never die, nevertheless, to be on the safe side - man we love you, good luck!

It's Jeffrey Kinart. Came across your new story. Your life story. Heidi and I send our love. Is Reality still what you can get away with? I won't forget our times in Los Angeles trying to make your movie.

God is an Iron, as my other favorite author would say...'thousands now living may never die' is a sound bite I first heard from you.
thank you for devoting so much of your life to the questions and answers we're going to be chewing over for the next hundred years.
Love and be love.
You'll be missed, but truly absurd and glorious things will continue to happen with thanks to you.
Well done and thank you, good sir.
Just read Schrodingers Cat, my first time ever reading a book of yours.
You've awakened a dormant brother. May the next few months be peaceful for you.

Your powerful words and wisdom continues to changed the world. Thank you for sharing your gift!
You keep on raging man...
Bless you, young man. You are infinite.
Godspeed, Bob. You leave behind a lot of good people and good memories. Thanks.
You're writing has gotten me out of ending my life far too early (and into some great beauty).
I don't know who I should thank, but I thank you, Bob. You will be remembered.
You've influenced me beyond measure and you've opened my eyes to so much that is new--and I haven't even read all your books yet!
Go in comfort and I know that Eris will take you with open arms. And thank you, thank you, thank you, tahnk you, thank you.

Robert I have always loved your books!
Don't listen to doctors, but when you must go may you pass peacefully on.
I love you Bob. You've changed my life. See you on the other side.
Thank you very much, thank you
Bob,
At sixteen I came across "The Earth Will Shake," that lead me to "Illuminatus!" then all your other works, and to most of the artists you love. That began a process that has led me to so much. My life is more amazing because of what you have written.
I don't believe that there is anyone else I have never met that has had such a profound influence on my life.
It's not just the information in your books; it's the experiences you create. To me, that is the highest art. Creating something, that when a person comes across it, transforms them for the better.
Thank you.

So long and thanks for all the books!
your books have helped me so much.
i won't let you down, RAW. i will use what you've taught me for awesome.
Hi, I'm Timothy Leary, and I'm dead
I would appreciate it if you would refrain form visiting the next plane of relity until you finish writing the Historical Illuminati Chronichles here in this one, Bob.
Just sayin'. Take your time, by all means.
Dear Robert,
Bright Blessings on the next adventure.
Thanks for being there to help tear off the blinders.
You have touched many who will never meet you, and your works will touch minds yet unborn.
A good voyage,

You have been a great influence in my life and I thank you for that.
All hail Discordia!!
I can't remember who it was but someone said "Death will be a great adventure".
Like everyone else who has posted, your work has influenced me more than I can begin to say fnord.
When you pass on to the next phase wherever and whatever it is your ideas of social libetarianism will continue.

Peace and love Bob, always
Thank you,
I never knew if or when to take your work seriously, but it was always insightful and entertaining.
Though slightly, somtimes scarily, discomBOBulating.
Dearest Uncle Bob,
You have changed my life, and expanded my mind/consciousness/worldview immeasurably. I love you and send you good vibes. You have altered human development and history, for the better. Thank you for everything.
well, I must say I'm excited for you, this should answer a few things, or give you some new querys to ponder, either way, good luck in death. I must thank you for all you've done.

I am glad to thank you and bid you farewell on your journey.
Be assured that a little part of me will die with you, and that a little part of you will live with me.
Whatever "you" and "me" is, anyway.
I love you too Bob. I wish you the best in what is to come. thank you !
(salute)
And thanks man.
i just wanted to thank you for many hours of great reading, and for inspiring me to change my own views of universe, i hope you can hang in a little longer, the world could use more people like you......
I love you man, be well.
Dear Bob,
I remember reading "The Cosmic Trigger", and the passage about the Finnigan's Wake sing-a-wake, "Damn your eyes!". Even as my eyes laid on those words, I got a call from the Missus who greeted me with, "I know this is a weird question, but, 'How are your eyes?" Needless to say, I freaked out. Turns out she'd gotten conjunctivitis and was just worried I may have contracted it from her.
I wish you well in this time and am praying to Christ for you,
Matt
Thanks for all the great books and the fun times I had reading them. I think your ideas will live on...
Bob --
Thank you. You opened my white-bread-infused midwestern mind to the myriad possibilities of the universe.
When I was suffering medically-induced (accidentally) clinical depression for nearly a decade, it was what I'd learned from you -- that maybe the damned horse can fly -- which kept me going.
I'm better now, and marvel every day at the wonders to which you first exposed me.
Whichever way things go, may they go well.
-- HypnoTeacher
Few weeks ago I didn't know about your existence. Later I've read 'Prometheus Rising'. It was something that helped me move forward. Be happier. I can't express enough gratitude for your work, and respect for you. It'll be great adventure to learn more from you works and your live. I wish You to be how You want to be.
THANK YOU

Hello Bob
While reading your books, so many times I was enchanted, when I realized things I didn't be aware before. Thank you for all your books, they just made my life happier and more conscious.
Anything will meet you happen after death, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. ;]

Thank you for adding a much needed update to my software, and giving me the tools to learn how to fully program my world.
Maybe I'll see you on the other side where nothingness with twinkles maybe await us.
Thanks for everything Bob, you opened up a whole wide weird world for me and countless others and for that I will always be grateful...esp for turning me on to Joyce!!
I wish you all the best in whatever is out there. Thank you.
I too love you and thank you. Love is sometimes the cruelest of emotions, but it is always the greatest. You will be remembered and missed.
Bob,
I'm fifty-two years old, I've been around the block a few times, and I honestly can't think of another individual on this fool planet who's sideswiped me as well as you. Well, you, and some ordinary-looking guy in a business suit who once bent some spoons for me. Thanks for everything, Bob. You've done an amazing job here that'll resonate for a long time. Good luck with your next adventures!
When I first read the Illuminatus Trilogy as a teenager, I couldn't believe how stupid and absurd it was. Though very funny.
As I grew older, I kept discovering how insightful it was. Especially the absurd parts.
Thank you for changing my world.

So it goes.
Your presence, (corporeal at least) will be missed.
Your words and ideas, (even regurgitations) will continue to be treasured.

Thanks Bob, we will miss you here.

Dear Bob,
seems like the sad day is coming. I wish everything good for you and hope that we will meet at the other side.
Death is over-rated. As a practicing coward and owing to the fact that I have just passed the midpoint of my time on this mortal coil, if the Bard is correct then I have already suffered around 523 deaths so far and haven't seemed to mind that much. So it can't be all that it's been cracked up to be. Therefore we must all face death with the same spirit with which we face over 92% of life: distracted apathy. That'll show 'em.
Seriously though, your work has definitely been a beacon for me on my journey through life. I have no doubt that you will have little difficulty navigating through what's to come.
Eris speed you on your way, sir.

Thanks for some great laughs and some books that changed my life. Well some of how I think at least.
If you reallty think you are gonna kark it then have fun if there's fun to be had.
If not, hopefully, I'll be writing this out again in about 6 months.
Hello old friend,
I thank you for a job well done and heartily bid you a fond farwell. A true friend of mankind, your compassion and humanity never ceases to amaze me. And altho we have never met in person, i'll be sure to look you up when my time comes.

Oh yeah. Absurdity indeed. The fact that one of the most optimistic, yet one of the most non-retarded of us has died, while no one is prepared to take his place as Illuminatus, or a lamp-lighter on the path, is absurd. Dreadfully absurd. Let's work to continue his legacy of laughing in the face of the things that normally make intellectuals depressed. The world is worse without your laughter, Master Wilson.
-PseudointelLexual
Thank you, for all of it.
I'm sorry to hear about Robert Wilson's passing. I've been reading his books for over a decade, and even had a 23 experience a couple of years ago, that really shook me.
You've changed my life in more ways than I can think of Bob. Thanks for everything, come back soon.

You opened up my heart and for that I am forever indebted.
You opened up my soul and for that I am forever indebted.
You closed off many commercials and for that I am forever indebted.
You taught me to turn off the television and listen to the inner voice.
You asked me.
And you answered.
Thanks to us both.

bob, i saw you at the joint lecture you gave in london years ago and i was soooo close to asking in the q&a section what happened to sigismundo celine and whether the world would ever turn upside down. something stopped me from asking you though and as mad as i was with you for leaving him there, i'm glad that you did and that i never found out why.
i love you and thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul for what you taught me

I don't know what kind of clever thing I can say. I hope your passage was like your friend Tim Leary's. Reportedly his last words were these: "Why not? It's beautiful."
I hope you had a beautiful passing. I hope you saw whatever beatific vision Leary did.
You were so optimistic about our future as a species, that we were on the way to evolving, that if you saw the world getting better and better you were getting smarter, and if you saw the world getting worse and worse you were getting more stupid.
Of course, you wrote those words before America elected George W. Bush not once, but twice, and California elected Arnold Schwarzenegger twice as well. I think perhaps DEVO had it more accurately: as a species, we are devolving. Of course, that shouldn't stop those determined to evolve. And that was your determination throughout life.
I wish we would have gotten to that optimistic, brave new world you saw in your mind's eye in your lifetime. I wonder if we ever will in my lifetime, or in the lifetime of those who are the right age to have been children of mine if I had decided to have children.
I suppose we just have to keep hoping.
I suddenly have a craving for pasta tonight.

You were my very favorite writer. First it was "The Cosmic Trigger" then "The New Inquisition". Everything else was dessert. Each time I see a "23" I think of you and I doubt that will change. And now you know who really killed JFK!

Here's to you.
I only met RAW once, sometime in the late '70's. I was visiting a friend in the Berkeley hills, where RAW, Paul from TransTime (the cryonics outfit), John James, and perhaps a couple others lived.
I was introduced to him as "Bob" (shades of sub-genius!), and he was friendly and enthusiastic. We chatted for a few minutes, and he showed me a copy of one of his, I think, "Illuminati" books.
I didn't know who he really was, and remember thinking, gee, I wonder if I should pick up a copy of his book down on Telegraph Avenue. But, I forgot about it. I never did check out his work then and have regretted it somewhat since.
Now all we have left is his spirit, memories, and writings. I would recommend, especially if you are younger, to check out his legacy, which are his books, among other things. Don't let the opportunity pass, like I did then.
We will miss you, Bob. Tear up Heaven, for us, buckaroo...banzai!

RAW! It may or may not be that you actually left this stupid planet for a ride on the Karma rollercoaster or whatever it is that awaits us - if there is something - but I don´t really effing believe that you died unless I die myself and see you in the otherworld, and even then it might be I´m just hallucinating or whatever. So I stay on the safe side and just wish you a good laugh, wherever you are. Hail Eris!
I read three books on Philosophy instead of working at Waldenbooks when I was a teenager: Quantum Psychology, then Philosophy for Dummies, then Quantum Psychology again. I used the Quantum Psych argument to debunk the "for Dummies" book and then tested it out on all kinds of other philosophers' books, always completely expecting that there'd be something else to learn about Philosophy, or that it had been too easy, or that I was too young. But from back then up until I started teaching the subject at CUNY, all I've really done is learn the names of philosophers from Aristotle to Wittgenstein (chronologically or alphabetically, your pick) who'd thought of the things I'd already known or expected from reading Robert Anton Wilson. QP unraveled two eons of philosophy in less than 200 pages. So I really got a kick out of an article I read tonight. I wonder if Robert Nozick had the same paradigm shift when he said this just before his death in 2002:
"Well, for one, truth is not socially relative among human beings... Another form of relativism, one that I do take seriously and find very interesting, is not a social relativism. I put it close to the front of the chapter, even though it contained technical material about quantum mechanics. I think that quantum mechanics and relativity theory might show us a surprising relativism about truth, that it is relative to time and place, and they do this on the basis of empirical results. That is an interesting and surprising possible connection between philosophy and science."

Thanks for everything Bob.
D'oh! I'm always late to the damned party...RAW, you're on my short list of people to meet before I go into that good night. You taught me that its perfectly fine -- in fact, it's my duty when times get stupid like they are now -- to think otherwise and act accordingly. Even though I never managed to meet you in person, the absence of your presence in this world is felt acutely.
Hi Bob,
even it is a bit late I want to say
that you were more than an author of very good books. It was like meeting a good friend when reading your stuff. It is a real pity that you've gone, but your voice will be there when I read again one of your incredible witty books.
Thank you for all the wisdom you gave to us.
It's not the end just a new beginning.
Cheers,

Hi Bob. This is an important message, please read and pass it along. God has made contact. The message is about Revelation. The message is from God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost respectively. It was sent in the Spring of 2006. It is about the meaning of First is Last and Last is First as written in Revelation. The message is this: In the morning I go to Heaven. In the afternoon I live my life. In the evening I die, death. What does this mean? In other words this means Birth is Last and Last is Birth. To understand this don't think from point A to point B. Think of this as a continous circle of life. Birth, Life, Death, Birth. God also said that Judgment will be before Birth in Heaven. AS birth on Earth is painful so will birth in Heaven. It is possible that this message was delivered by one of God's Angels in the Spring of 2006. Yes, God has made contact and he sent a messenger. Spread this message along, just like a chain letter. Tell two people. OH, one more thing. Did you know that Mike Douglas died on his Birthday. Melanie Stephan
