I Don't Know

Wavy Gravy once asked a Zen Roshi, "What happens after death?"

The Roshi replied, "I don't know."

Wavy protested, "But you're a Zen Master!"

"Yes," the Roshi admitted, "but I'm not a dead Zen Master."

Dear Bob,

I'm a reader and admirer of yours and I share your interests in Taoism, Buddhism and Quantum Physics. (By the way, let me invite you to read an article on my website about “Hidden Variables in Quantum Theory: The Hidden Cultural Variables of their Rejection.” I think it could amuse you!)
I particularly appreciate your experiential approach to the problem of reality – or, rather, realities. It coincides with my personal outlook and with my training in "parisceptical" ethnology (the name derives from "Paris 7" – “Paris Sept” – “parisceptique,” where an unconventional ethnology department founded by the late Robert Jaulin defied French structuralism for decades with its politics of responsible openness).
I find your views particularly important in a world which, for centuries, has been equating "reality" with its exclusive version provided by scientific or monotheistic orthodoxies (different faces of essentially the same bizarre and ancient thing…)
Fortunately, some people as you decide to give honesty and humour priority over reputation or career considerations. Such candour is so rare that I’m really glad for the opportunity of sending you this virtual handshake.

With my best wishes and lots of magic,

Miguel

I will call you Mr. Wilson because that's how I would have said hello if I knew who you where at the Prophets Conference at John The Devine in N.Y.C I forget the year. After I heard your talk I purchased That book about a cat that didnt know if he was coming or going.Read it twice. Then it was on to several other books and the last one was Email To the Universe. While i was deciding what to write here several things came to mind, first i hope i can complete this post before you become one with the great multigrain bread and if i call you Mr. Wilson will i be confused with Walter Math....how do you spell that.He was pretty funny with Jack Lemmon and some other good actors that are not registering in the noggin at this time.I guess the only time you became a grumpy old man was at the Medicinal Marijuana farmers market on Maybe Logic DVD.Other than that your a saint like myself.I dont know if you would have wanted to talk with me at the conference because i was trying to figure out the sobriety thing at the time.I still dont get it.They told me be the change i want to see in the world. It certainly was not what i see these days. How do i know this?Because i still can not appreciate the fact that the world is run by dimwitts and they will correct my spelling when they prove me wrong. Now im babbling and its only coffee.

My mind is blown everytime I realize that every sensation, action, opinion, concept, perception, location, detail, intuition, etc. occurs in my mind before/during/after my thoughts at a psychedelic speed. You inspired that knowledge in Prometheus Rising

You have connected me to the thoughts of a time-honored line of cosmic meme purveyors. I hope that one day I will help reseed some of these transmissions for future generations.

Mind fucked is how I hope to have my professors by the end, and in the end, they were. We have accomplished our mission, Mr. BOB, for the day, yet I wake each day and throughout the night to work in the studio utilizing collage to directly represent circuits, layers, identities chosen or innate within ourselves. Fuck the establishment, fundamentalists and those attemtimg to morph another. I have shown their true blues under te guise of "art" and based on your research. Thanks. What a beautiful discovery! I hope all is well with you!

I've been going through the roughest year of my life, and reading books such as Prometheus Rising have single-handedly given me a sense of optimism about moving forward with my life. I've never been one to think of certain people as being personal heroes of mine, but I found such a person earlier this year upon reading various things you wrote other than the Illuminatus Trilogy, which I read years ago.

And holy synchronicity - I discover this blog 2 days after publishing the following:

http://freemania1.com/raw1.html

I hope you don't mind me providing it online for all to read. It's an article you wrote many years ago for the old New Libertarian magazine called "A New Writer: F.W. Nietzsche." If you don't want it online for whatever reason, an email sent to jfreemanlc@yahoo.com will result in it being removed.

Hail Eris, and have a wonderful day!

Jesus. It makes me so happy that you decided to do a bit more social interaction. You need to know what it is you've done for all of us.

I posted this on my Blog:

I don't have a lot of real heros. They're mostly just celebs who say the things I wish I could say on a platform as big as theirs.

Trent Reznor is one real one. But really only on an entertainment level. I think he's an amazing composer and a damned good songwriter.

When Hunter S. Thompson offed himself I was pretty down for a while. He was an amazing writer who truly had his own voice. But I think that, true to Hunter form, he just knew he was done. He said the things he wanted said. He did the things he wanted to experience. And then he got old and sick and decided that he'd rather just not suffer, or drag his friends and family through it either.

But Robert Anton Wilson is the one person I can always rely on. He's always gonna make me feel better about myself. He's always going to tell me the truth (as far as he knows it), he's going to give me ammunition for my hatred of politics and religion. He'll always tell me which drugs to take for certain effects. He'll always tell me the dangers of these drugs. He'll also clue me in on the ways to get these effects without the use of drugs.

He'll always tell me stories that make me laugh. He'll give me little known information on people I didn't know I should have even paid attention to. He'll always try to teach me about things that seem beyond my mental grasp. He shows me how things as divergent as Quantum Mechanics and Physics and ancient tribal rituals and James Joyce and the Magik of Aleister Crowley all have something to do with each other.

He'll always give me hope for the future in terms of science, conciousness expansion and technology.

He'll always assure me that there are still a few people in this world who haven't been brainwashed, can still think for themselves and shoot for solutions to all these mindless problems that we have to deal with every day.

He shows me that yes and no aren't the only answers to anything. Aristotle was wrong. "Maybe" "Grey Area" This is where the anwers to most questions really reside. Is there a God, or many? With no proof, we only have "Maybe". Aliens? Does she like me? "Maybe" And using this Maybe, we can do our research we can strive for knowledge. Without this aim for more knowledge, we get stuck in the primitve rut of listening to those "above" us for all information.

Robert Anton Wilson tells me these things in a way that keeps me interested every time I read one of his books. He makes me laugh and there always seems to be something new. He's written over 30 books. 2 screenplays. Countless articles. He's lectured at Colleges and Universities all around the world. He had his own Online course on Maybe Logic.

He's a real visionary. And a great man.

When he was 4 years old in the mid-30's, he was 'cured' of Polio by a method which was rejected by the AMA. This was his first clue that the 'experts' didn't always know everything. Or sometimes anything.

I've never met him. But I think he's a friend.

Bob, I own like 15 of your books, I've have the Maybe Logic DVD, and I have a 13 part interview you did a while back. And at least once a month, I'm using one of these to get a handle on things. And many times, just because I like to go back and remind myself of the tools I can use to figure out just what the hell is going on.

Thank you for opening this portal to your eyes. Know that you have done us a great good. And that Karma will treat you exceedingly well.

Spock: It would be impossible to discuss the subject without a common frame of reference.

McCoy: You're joking.

Spock: Forgive me Doctor. I'm receiving a number of distress calls.

There is no afterlife. We live, we die; just like everything else. The real question isn't what is "next" but how we will deal with the fact there is no "next". Answer that and we, as a species, will have evolved to a better state.

Greetings Bob,
I always wanted to e-mail you and thank you for all of your great works but I always disdained hero-worship and never did. Well, I'll now join the chorus of others heaping praise upon you. I used to have a band called Non Serviam which is from the Illuminatus Trilogy. This was before the internet boom and all. Anyway, once I got online I realized much to my chagrin that there was a Norwegian metal band with the same name. Ha Ha! I always thought there was no way that would happen with such an obscure reference and all. I think the other band really did want to bring about the Eschaton where as we had a sense of humor! It was a true Spinal Tap moment, as were my exploding drummers. I'll just say Thanks Again before I become a cosmic schmuck fnord. I've read most all of your stuff and especially liked the Historic Illuminatus Trilogy. It makes me ponder how history will look at our present time... P.S. I hope you get some money for that new movie "The Number 23!"I always thought that Jim Carrey's film "Cable Guy" was basically an initiation of Matthew Broderick in order to break down his narrow reality tunnel and I'm probably one of the few people who enjoyed that film. This cosmic schmuck is out!fnord

First, I am so glad to see our favorite meta therion Dr. Bob back in action. As for death: it is the greatest mystery after existence itself. Many falsely think that the loss of our brains means that we really cannot survive. However, computer programs don't "die" when the computer they originally ran on is destroyed. They in effect live on, operating somewhere else. All we need is a somewhere else for them to function in. This has been explored by physicist Frank Tiper and many others. That something that our minds can "run on" is quite a bear to imagine, of course... It takes you through Matrix-like concepts, God, modal realism, and who knows what...

One great way to attract birds to your garden is by providing them with a comfortable nest in which they would

definitely continue returning. Believe it or not, there are bird houses that are already made and there are bird

house kits which could be easily assembled on your own. However, if you are adept to working on crafts, you could

easily create one simply from any materials that are available around your house.

If you are in any way planning to use a bird house kit, the primary thing to consider is just how you are to use a

bird house kit. Do you think the bird house is to be used as a fixture in your own yard? Or do you prefer the bird

house to be portable? Do you have a good idea on the specific bird types that you plan to attract? If so, you should

therefore have an advanced plan as to what types of bird seeds or feeds to use.

Currently, most of us are using mobile phones. True to our nature, we have used the different features of these

sophisticated gadgets to put a smile on our faces and that of others. We are sending text messages that are really humorous

and listening to ring tones that would tickle our funny bones, every time the phone rings.

At present, a multitude of ring tones are easily available and can be downloaded in different models of mobile phone

tones, buddy name tones, caller id tunes, etc., according to their specific requirements. With the technological advances

Are you in search of a good amplifier? Then I would suggest you check out the JL car audio 500/1 amplifier. This amplifier is very efficient and will give little, if any, reason to worry. Here is something more about this product.

It is a class D amplifier. What does this mean? It means that it belongs to the class of highly efficient amplifiers that are up to 90% power efficient. This is a great advantage as it means your battery will not be easily run down. It makes the most efficient use of power when compared to other amplifier classes. And for your car, this is an invaluable feature.

This amplifier features a 12 inch polymer-coated subwoofer and a 12 inch polymer-coated passive radiator. These two are responsible for providing ample bass.

A few years ago, it was difficult to find synthetic motor oils, and equally difficult to find someone who admitted to using them. Nowadays, however, you can find synthetic motor oils on the shelves of Wal-Mart, and other retailers, and the number of people turning to synthetic motor oils, particularly in light of the recent events affecting fuel prices, has risen greatly.

So why do people use synthetic motor oils rather than sticking with the old petroleum based stand-bys which are admittedly cheaper?

1. Let's start with the cost per quart issue. Synthetic motor oils ARE more expensive at purchase. However, these oils last longer, requiring fewer oil changes. As a synthetic motor oil outlasts several changes of petroleum based lubricants, the ultimate out-of-pocket cost of the lubricant is less. This cost savings becomes even greater if you have someone else change your oil for you rather than doing it yourself!

The history of perfume goes back to Egypt, although it was prevalent in East Asia as well. Early perfumes were based on incense, not chemicals, so aromas were passed around through fumes. The Roman and Islamic cultures further refined the harvesting and manufacturing of perfumery processes to include other aromatic ingredients.

Thus, the ancient Islamic culture marked the history of modern perfumery with the introduction of spices and herbs. Fragrances and other exotic substances, such as Jasmine and Citruses, were adapted to be harvested in climates outside of their indigenous Asia.

Brew low cost beer. The amount of time you spend on brewing beer makes the small difference in cost between "just OK"

ingredients and top quality ingredients a minor point. Either way, the cost of brewing a 5 gallon batch is much cheaper

than buying a couple of cases of beer in the store.

Beer is made of cheap ingredients, so it doesn't hurt to buy the best. Surprisingly, the cheapest way to brew beer gives

you the best results: all grain brewing is the cheapest way to brew when grain is bought in bulk.

You do need a grain mill and a mash tun, so there is a small investment in equipment needed. But you should be able to brew

excellent quality beer for less than $2 per gallon, and you could brew a mild ale for as little as $1 per gallon, or less

than 10 cents per bottle (one gallon is about 10-1/2 12oz bottles). Most of my pilsners are about $1.50 a gallon brews.

Other ways to reduce the cost of your beer are by growing your own hops and reusing yeast from the fermenter. Easy to do,

and it means that I don't have to buy yeast more than once every half year or so. The hops should last e through most of

the winter brews. So all you need is grain, which is about $0.70 per pound in a bulk purchase (much of the cost is in

shipping).

Beer Brewing Equipment Basic, simple, cheap equipment that gets the job done. Sometimes it adds to the challenge. But

through the mystique of brewing and remember that illiterate alewives brewed for centuries using tried and true recipes and

procedures before the dawn of kegerators, ph meters or hydrometers.

Beer Keg Brewing. After using bottles for years, you can jump to the corny keg (Cornelius keg). This is an important step

because it makes brewing so much easier. You can still bottle, but just a few bottles per batch, and use a corny keg to

fill the bottles. You can use corny kegs as secondary fermenting vessels. You can try out method where you leave the beer

in the primary for about two weeks until it clears nicely, and then upi carefully siphon it over to a corny, avoiding

transferring any trub.
